Bob and Rachelle Walchli sell their melons direct to consumers at this seasonal fruit stand outside Stanfield, at the Pilot Travel Center where Hwy 395 meets I-84 (2115 US Hwy 395). The 65-acre farm specializes in Hermiston watermelons in an unusual range of varieties — yellow, orange, seeded heirlooms, several red seedless types, and their signature dark-rinded Black Mamba — plus cantaloupe and other in-season produce. The stand typically opens around late June and runs through September, seven days a week. Note: this is a separate operation from the larger Walchli Farms stand at the Big Blue Shed on Loop Road in Hermiston, run by the extended family.
Seasons and hours change with the weather and the crop — always check the farm's site before you go.
